Repost from Children’s Advocacy Center
LAKE CHARLES –LyondellBasell hosted an employee driven toy drive, donating over 350 stuffed animals to the Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC), a Division of Family & Youth.
“Every child who comes to the Children’s Advocacy Center to tell their traumatic story of abuse during the Forensic Interview process, gets to choose a stuffed animal from our CAC Comfort Closet, which is filled with love strictly from community donations,” Patra Minix, Diplomat Child Forensic Interviewer & Director of the Children’s Advocacy Center said.
“These soft, cuddly stuffed animals often become treasured companions for children who are victims of abuse and who desperately need that feeling of comfort & safety.”
The Children’s Advocacy Center is a child-friendly facility designed to coordinate services for children who have been reported as sexually or severely physically abused. Designed and managed to reduce the effects of trauma, the Center’s comfortable environment and well-trained staff work together with area prosecutors, law enforcement agents, social service workers, therapists, victim advocates and medical professionals to investigate child abuse allegations and reduce the number of investigative interviews typically experienced by victims.
