LyondellBasell Unlocks the Circular Potential of Plastics in Japan

Basell Asia Pacific (BAP) hosted a seminar to promote sustainable solutions in Tokyo, Japan, Thursday, July 21, 2022. There were more than 300 participants from the industry, brand owners, the Ministry of Environment and the consultancy firms to address the subject of sustainability.

“We are excited to showcase LyondellBasell’s capability and success cases with our Circulen portfolio. Japan is in the forefront with the country target to consume two million tons of bioplastics by 2030. Through the collaborations within the industry and across the value chain, we are confident to accelerate the growth of Circulen in the region,” said Andy Lai, Director, Marketing, O&P Asia.

During the event, Henry Tang, Senior Account Manager and Paula Sanabria-Luque, Associate Director Circular Polymer Solutions presented the subject – “Future Focused: LyondellBasell’s Sustainability Approaches.” In addition, Toshiyuki Yamasaki, the Deputy Director of Recycling Promotion Office, the Ministry of the Environment Japan presented the current status of biomass plastics in Japan and Kazumi Watanabe, President Peterson Projects & Solutions Japan, shared their experience on the ISCC plus certification.

In total, 167 companies joined the event physically or via webinar.

“Basell Asia Pacific received more than 100 direct contacts from brand owners, OEMs, consultant firms and regulatory bodies through this event. This will certainly build our foundation to grow the Circulen portfolio in 2023, ” said Mui Teck Chai, Senior Manager, Sales & ADTS.
